I have put together two freebie quick pages. They are in 12×12 ” and A4 formats, all in the one file. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are firing to scrap all those yuletide pics!
Commiserations to Nicole of NBK scrap. Nicole is a talented and generous designer. She designs a massive amount of gorgeous freebies then gives them away. Some nasty people decided to download her material stored on 4shared and upload it again to new links as their own work. Not only that, they took private unrealeased material as well!
Folks, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. Theft is theft. Creating a separate download site of Nicole’ s scraps was not necessary, and taking the credit is well, just pathetic.
So I was inspired to put together:
THE BEST WAY TO DOWNLOAD FREEBIES
Always, always take the time to say thank you. You have got something for nothing, it doesn’t mean you can take it for granted! Just a simple TY in the comments section is all it takes -although more is much appreciated :) . Have you ever noticed the proportion of downloads to comments!
Leave the image file names intact- (if they have enough detail). That way you know whose stuff you are using, so you can give due credit when posting layouts in galleries.
Never, ever upload a freebie created by someone else for others to download, or post a direct link to the download address. Direct them to the designer’s site.
If you rename the preview image to ‘folder’ it becomes the folder thumbnail image making it easy to see what is in each folder. Helpful as your stash of freebies explodes in size!!!
If its a freebie, don’t go back to the designer and criticise if you decide you didn’t like the download. IT’S FREE, so you haven’t lost anything by downloading it and no one is forcing you to use it! ( Yes, this apparently does happen.) Constructive comments are helpful but there is a right way to go about this.
Although you know deep down that the people who are going to thieve will do it any way,
I still had to get that off my chest.
Look out for some new freebie kits coming this way very soon!
Happy New Year.
Nikki
I have been so busy I have neglected my blog. Not that I will have any freebies for you until after Christmas! With the warm but very humid wet weather we are having our place has become infested with fleas!!!!!!!! So after evicting the dog to MO-L’s and valiantly battling alone for two weeks with do it your self flea bombs we finally called in the experts. Apparently despite product advertisements, nothing actually kills the larvae, only the adult eggs. So in three weeks we maybe faced with another outbreak! Ughhhh
Hubby just can’t seem to get a week off anytime soon- being self employed piano tuner he takes the work as it comes- and i am busting for some time away- its been a year since we last got away… And to top off a hectic week I have to play violin at our carol service tomorrow morning ( I’m our only sad and sorry source of music at church-I picked up violin a few years ago for fun, never imagined I’d be doing the music at church) and do morning tea. It doesn’t rain unless it pours!!!
A Freebie….. well check back after Christmas and remember the TEAR Christmas kit will be taken down at the end of December. But you can purchase a ‘gift’ from the really useful gift catalogue or make a donation to TEAR Australia anytime of the year, from anywhere in the world!
I also have a layout one of my readers has put together with the ‘big moments’ kit. Its very sweet and kinda true to the theme - a big moment- getting new clothes!

Remember designers love to see your layouts!
Merry Christmas
For those that like to be organised in style, I have put up a blank template (png form) of a Christmas gift list as well as the Christmas card list posted yesterday. These templates are without the cute pictures by Little Dreamer Designs, so you can trawl through your stash and decorate them how you like.
Template
Download blank templates here. Leave some feedback when you download.
Have fun….
I decided to try and be more organised with my christmas card list. It has been a floating scrap of paper in my address book. The address book has a Xmas card list but I got sick of flipping back and forwards to the addresses. So I made an all in one (A4 size) before my luck runs out and I lose my list. I have used the gorgeous freebie Candy Canes by Heidi Larsen for the header.

To all those people who have so far donated to TEAR Australia, THANK YOU!!!!!
Your gift will change someone’s life for the better. If you haven’t already and you would like a really huge Xmas scrap kit, click here and follow the instructions and links!
Ughhh… 4shared has a new filter that decided my Sateen brad pack must have illegal content because it had the letters ‘teen’ in it. So they blocked downloads. They asked me to rename it, so that is done and you should be able to access it now. Sorry ’bout that.

Just thought I post some links to blogs with excellent freebies!
These are available from Monika’s blog.
And I just love these from Gille’s scrap and photoblog.

And this is just stunning! It is made by Bridget:

Tootles…
Here is brad pack number 5. These are a sateen finish in a variety of colours. It is the last of the scraps I have made. I will have to find some more time (& inspiration) to create some more scraps. Please let me know if there is a theme or colour scheme or element pack you would really like to see and I’ll see what I can come up with.
Download here. Enjoy LINK IS REPAIRED.
Okay, this is going to work on an honour system. I have neither the money nor resources to set up a shop, so I am trusting in your good will. I have put together a christmas kit, BUT IT IS NOT FOR FREE. The cost…. a donation to TEAR Australia. They help people in developing countries that are living in unimaginable poverty. They also help break the cycle of poverty through various education programs and small business loans etc. You can find out about their work in this post or the TEAR site here.

There is over 80 pieces in the kit. The downloads are divided into 5 parts.
You don’t have to live in Australia to donate, it can be completed online. You can simply give them a donation or purchase a ‘gift’ from their Really Useful Gift Catalogue- they can send you an e-card if you are enviromentally minded. Exchange rates will be in your favour, the Australia dollar is worth less than the US dollar, so $5 AUD is less than $4.50 US, and about 3 Euros.Your donation will change someone’s life for the better.
Make your donation to TEAR here. If you download without making a donation, THAT IS STEALING.
LINK EXPIRED Download: Papers1, Papers2, Papers3, Elements1, Elements2. Password is at the bottom of this previous post, if you have made your donation. Please don’t steal from someone far less fortunate than yourself. If you can afford access to a computer, you can spare a little money to help someone out. The link will be open until the end of December.
This is the sole initiative of Just Passin’ Thru. The kit is offered exclusively here, you are expected to make a donation to TEAR Australia in exchange for downloading. This offer is not promoted or organised by TEAR Australia, it is an act of good will which the creator hopes you will be a part of.
Merry Christmas..
I love summer rain- usually because it means it’s not stifling hot! I know that the majority of visitors here are from the northern hemisphere, so while you are rugging up against the cold and preparing for a white christmas, I am thinking about how to prepare christmas food with the minimal amount of oven cooking! That, and whether I should pop the air con on! We have actually had a bit of a spring weather this year with a cooler, but more humid start to summer. A bit tropical.
I am just typing up this post to show you some finds I made this morning. I’m not usually into quickpages but these really caught my eye. Particularly as they are not square (I’m an A4 scrapper). They are available from Nadya’s Scraps If you do download them, you may find you have to rename the unzipped folders with english letters as I couldn’t open the files inside until I did this.

I found them when I went chasing these:

They are just gorgeous!
Thats all I really wanted to share for now. Remember look out for my huge Christmas kit on the way!
Tootles…
I intended to post these sooner, but during one of the summer thunderstorms we are having (a bit early this season, they usually come in February), I stupidly had the computer on. We do have a power surge protector but we still managed to lose the ether net card, it blew in the blackout we had. So we were without online access.
It has been a very very busy week that is just getting busier. We have birthday parties, end of year parties and christmas parties to attend.
My Mums-with-little-ones bible study group is taking our children to the local pool for our christmas party, it is the same day as our daughter’s first birthday, and that evening we have an end of year party for the Kids Club hubby and I run at church. And tomorrow is our 9th wedding anniversary. And there is more, but I wont bore you with the details!
Here is a little brad pack for you. There is a brad pack No.5 for those keeping count, but I just felt like releasing this one into the wild first.
These silver brads have a variety of different, funky edges.

Look out for my HUGE christmas kit, coming soon!
tootles…
Hi there,
For the lead up to Christmas this year we decided to make a Jesse Tree with our son. This advent tree traces the whole Christmas story from the very beginning…. God’s creation of the world, through to the birth of Jesus. Each day you have a symbol or picture to make as an ornament and a bible passage to read. The idea behind it is to see that God has from the beginning, a wise and loving plan in place, that will result in our being brought into a relationship with God and receiving eternal life!
The tree and its decorations can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. This year I have hand drawn the pictures for my son and he will decorate them by sticking things on or colouring in etc. We are following the intructions in Kent & Barbara Hughes’ Disciplines of a Godly Family, Crossway Books. You can find other instructions on the web;
http://www.cresourcei.org/jesse.html
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/7202/advent.html
http://www.jesse-tree.com/jesse_tree.html
http://www.shalfleet.net/advent/makeajessetree.htm
http://www.kingofpeace.org/resources/
The first symbol is a “rising sun on horizon with rays of light”, the scripture reading to accompany it Genesis 1:1 & John 1:1-5. As our son is only three the concepts in the John passage will be beyond him, as it talks of Jesus as the ‘Word’.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1
We must have the privilege of being the only country in the world with a Prime Minister who has the nickname ‘Pixie’.
The Prime Minister elect, Kevin Rudd, was for years known in Australian media as ‘Pixie’- no doubt coined by the outgoing government. But amazingly this epithet disappeared in the spin campaign for his leadership (who would of thought ;p ), and no doubt will never be mentioned again as it is not really dignified enough for a PM!
With that thought, I’ll move on to the reason you’re here…. Latte part 2 freebie. I said it was masculine but I couldn’t help myself and had to throw in a flower!

tootles….
Hey there,
Today was the federal election here in Oz. As I type all the telecasts are saying it will be won by the opposition, so it looks like we may have a new Prime Minister… but counting is still underway! Not that a change to the opposition will radically alter our day to day lives. Our two major parties are fairly similar- both seem to hold the usual sleazeballs and questionables as well as the garden variety pollies. The interesting outcome will be the senate…. but is there really anything interesting in this election?! snzzzzz…..
On to business. Here is the first part of a more masculine kit, in various shades of brown and cream. I particularly was pleased with the way some of the papers came out…. just mucking around with filters! There will be a second part to follow.

Download here. Please, if you post this freebie on a forum DO NOT post the actual 4shared address. Post the link to this blog! It is just courtesy. Read the TOU if this isn’t sinking in!
Here is another bunch of brads, these have a checkerboard like border. I’m a bit of a brad addict, so there are a couple more packs to come!
Coming up I have a more masculine kit called ‘Latte’ and a Christmas kit!
tootles….
I have had a busy morning with appointments… I could do with a nap…. no such thing with a 3yr old and a 11month old!
But I’ll post a freebie instead!!
Another set of frames for your stash…..

If you haven’t started your christmas shopping yet… have a look here.
tootles….
Here is a little something I whipped up last month. You may recognise the green frame from the Peach Sunset kit. The frames have a quilted effect… but you can’t see it that well in the preview.
The next few freebies will probably be of the bits and pieces variety!

If you have the time please have a read of the previous post… Thanks
Here is a minikit I made up after a trip out with my son. He is train mad, and a few weekends ago we ended up at a train museum in the Blue Mountains (West of Sydney). So we now have a lot of photos requiring scrapping and need of a train themed kit, so ….voila!

If you download, leave some love. If you scrap it, please consider sending in the link/image for me to show off here!!
tootles….
Here is the final installment of Big Moments. Thank you for those that have taken the time to comment, it encourages me to keep creating! The next kit as previewed last post is a ‘boy’ mini-kit, so keep an eye out.

Part 4 includes: 1 flower, 1 bow, 1 brad, 2 frames, 2 tags, 1 verse, 1 ribbon and 4 papers
I have had one downloader experience problems opening the aquacorrpaper in part 2 of the Big Moments kit, has anyone else had a problem? I unzipped the file I uploaded and it was fine, but I haven’t downloaded it from fileshare for myself to check it is uncorrupted. Please let me know.
Here is the third part of the Big Moments kit.

It includes: 1 bow, 1 cluster, 1 button, 1 brad, 4 papers, 2 tags, 1 verse, 2 ribbons, and 1 frame.
Enjoy!
This is a lovely layout by Mahan using the first parts of the Big Moments kit, you can visit her lovely blog here. I would love to see more layouts from anyone willing to share!

And finally, here is a preview of what is coming up soon:

I Love Trains Mini-kit, as inspired by my little train mad boy.
tootles….
Ta da…. As described in a previous post here is my latest big kit
The brown frame in this part is my favourite creation in this set!
This kit includes: 4 papers
1 journal block
2 tags
1 button
1 brad
1 ribbon
1 cluster
2 tabs
and a tag with a bible verse Psalm 33:11
There will be 3 more parts, I would love to see any layouts you make with this kit!
tootles…
G’day there,
I came up with these brads the other day, they are kinda christmassy.
I like the quilted satin effect on the edges… I hope you do too. Just a small pack to add to your basics!
Check in tomorrow, there should be the first part of the Big Moments kit available for download.
Couldn’t do it… I just couldn’t go cold turkey with the computer. I did manage to stay off it for 48hrs, then for a further 24hrs I avoided the internet, and then…. well I didn’t post anything anyway. :o Just as well I’ve never smoked!!
So I began to upload all the goodies I had made the previous week, and few others which amazingly were created on my ‘week off’ !! Thank you for all the lovely comments!
Anyway, today I am just going to share with you two pretty layouts made with my Sunset Peach kit.
The first is by Sharon
The second is by Shelly

So what can you expect freebie wise…

I made this kit before my break… now I realise not everyone regards the Bible in quite the same light as I do, but there is something for everyone in this kit. It of course has all the usual bits and pieces.
This kit was named Big Moments because there can be events in our lives which in retrospect have an added significance. What may have seemed disastrous, chaotic or even boring at the time, looking back from a Christian perspective you can see God’s purpose, and are reminded every detail of our lives have already been planned by him. So I have included some verses from the bible which remind me of that, so for those that have these moments on camera to scrap, you may like to use them.
There is four parts, each includes four papers, plus embellishments and one verse.
When can you get it? … very soon
Well, I know I just released part 3 yesterday, but I have come to the conclusion that the computer and I need some time apart.. so rather than make you wait for part 4 of Sunset Peach kit here it is. I hopefully will be back in about 1 weeks time with some more freebies and tutorials for those who are interested! I have another big kit, and a few small packs or bits a pieces on the way.
Download here… leave some love!
Here is the third part of Sunset Peach! I have been pleasantly surprised by the big response…. now surely someone out there has a layout they would be proud to show, made with this kit! I would love to see them and maybe share the link for other people to have a squizz!
As always if you download, leave some love! ….tootles
There is a couple of ways to do this. The first method involves either going out and taking pictures of interesting textures- such as fence palings, grass, gravel, pebbles etc, or downloading textured image that a photographer has released for public download (please read their conditions of use). You can find such images here: The Ephemeral Victorian, The Lune Rouge and Wetfish scraps. Please note if there is conditions for commercial or personal use and ABIDE BY THEM.
- If the photo you have taken or downloaded is coloured, open it in Serif Photoplus ( or your image editor), select the Image menu, then Adjust, then Grayscale.
- Now open a new or existing image 12″ x 12″, 300 resolution. If a its new image, fill with the colour of your choice.
- Now open your texture image file, copy.
- Now go back to 12″ image, select paste new layer. If smaller than 12″, stretch to fit, or tile it. Your textured image should overlay your ‘paper’ now
- Go to your layer manager tab- making sure the texture layer is on top and selected. Now muck around with the options in the layer properties drop down box, and the opacity value.
- Find something you like save it or export it under another file name and keep playing.. you can get a plethora of papers!!
Let me know if this is helpful… And please always read the conditions of use when downloading images from the net! DON’T BE A PIRATE!

WooHoo… 10,000 hits… well who would of thought!
Here is the second part of Sunset Peach. I was a little surprised at how rapidly the first part racked up the downloads. Thankyou very much for all the lovely comments. I try and read all of them.
For those of you who read my tutorials ( I know there is only two posted so far…more too come), another freebie designer, Netta (the Creative Victorian) has had a fantastic and generous idea of a blog with freebies for FREEBIE DESIGNERS!!! Click here.

Presenting……
Sunset Peach Part 1
This is the first of a four part kit available on my blog. The flowers came about quite by accident as I made one new discovery after another- I’m still a novice to making digiscraps, but totally addicted. I have to really make the effort to disconnect my self from the internet and scrap designing for a day or so more regularly. But just to fuel your own addiction, you can grab my latest freebie!
Please take the time to leave some feeback.

Hey there,
I have just a little something to brighten your day! Some frame freebies!

We have been very busy with this and that, and on Sunday afternoon we visited a train museum with our train mad 3yr old. Took lots of photos- our little boy was even allowed to help change the points on the steam tram ride, - so I have been inspired to work on a train theme kit! Still in the sketch phase though!
I have been working on another kit that just seems to grow and grow, as I discover new techniques. It will hopefully be released at the end of the week. It is called Peach Sunset, and it is in four parts. Here is a preview:

Well, you’ve got an image editor (see previous post) and you want to make some custom brads. You will probably like to have a plug-in to make it easy. A plug-in is a small software extension that can be downloaded, usually free of charge, to add capabilities to an existing programs such as Photoshop or Serif Photoplus, etc.
To make brads and buttons I use Border Mania. A free downloadable plug-in. Download the file, and install into the plug-in folder that is found in your image editor folder.
- Now start your program, create a new image 2 inches height and width, with resolution set at 300, fill with the colour or picture of your choice. The fill icon can be found in the tool bar- it is the picture of a bucket.
- Now from the Image menu select the Plug-in Filters option. Then find Border Mania. There are many button making filters to play with in this menu.
- For round brads the last three options are great. “Round Button #1 or #2″ for conventional shapes, or “Round Button #3″ to make an eyelet. After you have selcted your filter you can mess around with the different parameters to get the brad you like.
- Then after pressing okay, using the round select tool in the tool bar, select the actual button and then from the Image menu select “crop to image”. You should now have your brad.
- If you were to now use this image it would look a bit rough around the edges on your page. So, in the Image menu, choose ‘Blur’, then choose ‘Gaussian blur’. Again you need to fiddle with the options to get a balance between blur and sharpness that is acceptable. You can apply this a few successive times, with a decreasing radius each time to get a good image.
Now you are ready to use your brad… well almost. If you are making up your Scrap pages in another program such as Canon Photo Record (it was free with my camera), you need to ‘Export’ your image so it is in a recognisable format that supports transparent regions.
- Choose Export from the File menu, then select where you want to save image to, then select in ’save as type’ the ‘portable network graphics .png’ option. There you go!
- If you want to add a drop shadow or add a bevel edge before you save, choose the ‘Layers’ menu and then the ‘Effects’ option.
Thats all for now! Just experiment lots with the filters- its the best way to learn. Let me know if you find this helpful.
Sorry!!! Try again on the Cool Blue link! ![]()
Well, what a response- guess I shouldn’t hold out on you too long!
Thank you to all those who kindly take the time to write those lovely comments.
Here is the second part of Cool Blue:

Enjoy!
G’day,
Whew!! What a busy weekend. And this week is starting off busy, a lovely friend had bought tickets to take the kids and I to a Colin Buchanan concert! He is an awesome christian musician and writes the most fantastic children’s music that adults can enjoy too. We have already worn out one of his CDs in our car as it is almost permanently playing. The concert was just ‘tops’, as our 3 year old would say.
You can now download part 1 of the Cool Blue kit that I previewed last week. I am just so rapt with the floral paper and the blue pebble texture. Enjoy!!

Hey there,
About to hit a busy weekend- we are having a surprise birthday party for my mum-in-law. It was a bit of a nightmare to get a date all her friends were available for. They seem to book themselves up months in advance - the social butterflies! I think its because they are all empty nesters and out making the most of life!!
So, now to the business end of the blog!!! The Freebie.
Enjoy!
This is not a how-to step by step make your own digiscraps, but what you can get from the internet -FREE - to do so.
So you don’t want or can’t afford to buy programs like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro? There are free image editing programs around. I use Serif Photo plus, which is an older version of the program that the company sells. They have this older version available for free download from their site. There is also a Photoshop copy called GIMP. I haven’t used this so I am not sure of the stability.
The Serif Photo plus program allows you to open and work with many different file formats such as JPG & PNG. It also works with layers in your images- very important. The ability to work with PNG files is important, as unlike JPEG files they allow areas of transparency- important for embellishments which are not rectangular or square.
You can also use the program to put together your own pages using designer’s scrapbook layout templates. Although the disadvantage here is that if they are a Photoshop template -while you will be able to open them, the layers will not be separated- but you can ’separate’ them yourself. More on that later.
Next time: What you need to make buttons & brads.
Well, winter has ended and this week summer has kicked in - we don’t really have spring in Sydney. Our best (read most comfortable) weather is Autumn. We were in jeans and jumpers a fortnight ago and this week the aircon is on!!
Here is the download for the elements I created for the Isla May kit .
Please leave some love either with this post or on the download page! ‘Thanks’ is just a small contribution of good will you can make to keep the freebie machine well oiled and I’m not just talking about just passin’ thru, but any creator’s freebie you download!
This kit has been named for my little girl. We have a bit of a Scottish theme going with our kids names. For those that don’t know the ’s’ is silent, as in ‘island’. Yes, a few people have called her “Iz-Lah” After having a little boy first, my husband was a bit taken aback with all the pink we were inundated with after having our little girl. But what better colour to start with in making a girly kit!
Today I have the first part - the papers.

If you download, leave some love. Enjoy!

Hey there,
Here is my ‘exotic’ minikit. I just love the gold teamed with royal blues, fuschia and red.

As always if you like it and download, please leave some love!

In my own freebie hunting I have come across a fabulous embellishment designer Sugar Snap Scraps. If you haven’t seen her designs, check out her site. Loads of gorgeous freebies!
Had a flood of ideas- colour schemes to work with, new filter techniques. So there is plenty on the way. Tomorrow I will be putting up a richly coloured mini kit called Opulent. I also have a gorgeous feminine little kit in two parts ready to go- probably will post on Monday! Next week I also want to start putting up my how-to page on making your own digi-scraps using free programs and filters for those who are interested.
Until then, happy scrapping!
Here are some more of my brad collection. Mostly blues and purples with a mosaic kind of pattern!
Enjoy! Download here, and please leave a comment!
Another Friday, another freebie.
I had this post already to go in my drafts folder, but it disappeared?!
Anyway here is a little kit inspired by my little boy, who is definetely ‘All Boy’!

If you download, please leave some love.

I have been busy working on a vibrant mini kit soon to be posted - collections of gold, blue, red and fuschia, reminiscent of the asian decorating trend a few years ago. This Friday I will be posting a mini kit titled All Boy- inspired by my own little man. I am also currently working on some add-ons for the Resort Lounge mini kit.
For those that have already downloaded some of my freebies, please send me the links to any online layouts you may have submitted using Just Passin’ Thru freebies. I would love to see them.
Thanks to all those of you who have posted lovely comments.
I have some cute brads for you today!

Welcome to just passin’ thru, a laid back kind of blog as hopefully the name implies. I apologise to those who were hoping to read about what I had for breakfast or the trouble I had with the phone company- can’t quite see the fascination with reporting the boring detail of day to day living for complete strangers to consume.
I hopefully will have a regular freebie for digital scrapbookers and aim to include a how-to guide on making elements using freeware!
